David and Alice started Country Air with a self taught trade and a small town they had fallen for. Their daughter runs it now, and the promise has not moved: the technician who installs your system is the one who comes back for it.
How it started
A television repairman who taught himself heating and cooling.
David Arevalo was hired as a TV and radio repair man for Montgomery Wards, and it was there that he first took an interest in HVAC, after watching the industry get things wrong up close. His own knowledge of heating and cooling was mostly self taught, built one job at a time rather than out of a classroom.
His wife Alice had a reason of her own to come to Magnolia. Her mother had been raised on the family property here, and once David and Alice visited they fell for the small town atmosphere and the tight knit community. That is what decided it. In 1978 they founded Country Air in Magnolia on three values they still print on every van today: quality, comfort and trust.
The business started small and grew out of the house. By 1999 the family had moved it into a storefront location of its own, the same cream steel shop with the blue trim and the blue awning over the 38917 street number that still sits on FM 1774. Today their daughter, Natalie Arevalo Chumley, owns and operates the company as President, and Alice still serves as CFO. The founders are not a story from a plaque on the wall. They are still in the building.
The promise the family kept
No work is ever contracted out.
Plenty of companies subcontract the busy weeks out to whoever is free. Country Air never has. The technician who installs your system is the one who comes back to service it, which means the person standing in your attic already knows what is up there, because he is the one who put it in.
Every technician carries EPA Universal Certification and is registered with the State of Texas. Country Air is also a Trane Comfort Specialist. That standard has not been lowered to move faster during a hot August, and it is the reason the family has held a 4.9 out of 5 rating across 998 Google reviews.
Before the van turns in
You know who is coming before the doorbell rings.
The office calls thirty minutes ahead of every visit, so the person at your door is expected rather than announced. The office itself keeps ordinary hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Outside of those hours a live person, not a recording, answers the emergency line around the clock.
Every repair, residential or commercial, carries a 30 day labor warranty and a one year parts warranty, so the standard the family sets for its own work is written down rather than just promised on the phone.
Where the van actually goes
Magnolia first, and the greater North Houston area besides.
Country Air serves Magnolia, The Woodlands, Montgomery, Tomball, Spring and Cypress, described by the family itself as the greater North Houston area. Giving back is a habit that predates any marketing plan. The family supports the Magnolia and Tomball Chambers of Commerce and the Rotary Club, and backs the Jeffery Ingram Memorial Foundation, which benefits graduating Magnolia ISD seniors. Natalie continues that tradition today the same way her parents started it, as a neighbour first.
