Residential and light commercial

Nine things we are asked to fix, in the order Magnolia asks for them.

Heat, then air, then everything the air travels through. The first three are what the phone rings about in August. The rest is the work that stops it ringing next August.

The office picks up

A person, at any hour

Reviewers name the person who answered, because a person answers. Office hours run Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the emergency line is staffed around the clock outside them. One reviewer called at 4pm on a Friday and had a technician at the house by 6:45.

Thirty minutes out

You get told who is coming

Every effort goes into same day service, and Comfort Club members are guaranteed it. Before the van turns in you get a heads up call, so the person at your door is expected rather than announced by the doorbell.

No work is contracted out

The technician who installs your system is the one who comes back to service it. Every technician carries three to five years minimum experience, EPA Universal Certification, state registration, a background and drug check, and is reviewed quarterly.

Options, then your call

Diagnosis before recommendation

You are handed the findings and the choices, with pricing, and you decide. Repairs carry a 30 day labor warranty and a one year parts warranty. If a repair is the better money, that is what you will be told.

How it started

A television repairman who taught himself heating and cooling.

David Arevalo was hired to fix TVs and radios for Montgomery Wards, then took an interest in HVAC after seeing what the trade was getting wrong. Alice's mother had been raised in Magnolia on the family property, which is what brought them here. Their daughter Natalie runs the company now.

Before you spend anything

Three questions decide repair or replace. None of them is asked by us.

Run these before you book anyone, ourselves included. If all three point at repair, a replacement quote is the wrong conversation and we will say so on the call.

15 to 20 years
That is the working life of a well maintained system. Inside that window, repair is usually the better money. Past it, every repair is rent on a unit you will replace anyway.
30 percent
If the quoted repair costs less than 30 percent of new equipment, and the rest of the system is in good condition, repair it. Above that line the money is better invested in the replacement.
Twice in two years
A system needing repair more than once every couple of years is telling you something. Older equipment means dearer failures, lower efficiency, and coils that are already corroding.

Two things worth trying before you call anybody: check the breaker has not tripped, and change the filter. Between them they account for a good share of the calls we take in July. The rest of the checks are here.

Customers here name the technician. That is the tell.

We needed HVAC maintenance, but our normal HVAC company had us on a wait list for two weeks, only to be rescheduled several times. We called Country Air and they sent someone out same day! James showed up to help, and let me tell you - he is one of the most professional, knowledgeable and honest people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with!

Highly recommend Country Air! When we were having AC issues, they came out right away and provided exceptional service. The technician was knowledgeable, professional, and thorough, taking the time to explain everything and make sure we understood what was going on. It's refreshing to find a company that is honest, responsive, and truly puts customers first.

Our A/C died at 4pm on Friday, called and spoke to Sarah (I think) they had someone out at 6.45pm. The tech Blake was amazing!!!!! Figured out the issue within 15/20 minutes and had us back up and running within the hour.

He was also very courteous and easy to work with. I believe I may have my new first choice technician for any future work with Country Air.

Asked most often

The questions the office answers all summer.

Yes. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and a live person answers the emergency line around the clock outside those hours. You are not routed to a recording or an answering service that takes a message until Monday.

You get a 30 minute heads up before a technician is on the way, so you know who is arriving and when. Country Air does not contract any work out, so the technician who installs your system is the one who comes back to service it.

Every effort is made to provide same day service, and same day is guaranteed for Comfort Club members. Call the office and they will tell you honestly where you sit in the day rather than book you blind.

Three questions decide it. Is the unit close to 15 to 20 years old, is the quoted repair more than 30 percent of the cost of new equipment, and is it being repaired more than once every couple of years? If the answer to those is no, a repair is usually the better money.

Every repair carries a 30 day labour warranty and a one year parts warranty, on residential and commercial work alike.

Every 30 to 90 days depending on the MERV rating and the filtration system you have. Change it sooner if you have several pets, or in high summer when the system is working harder.

Country Air is a Trane Comfort Specialist and also installs and replaces Honeywell and Goodman equipment. Attic insulation work uses Owens Corning ProCat professional loosefill exclusively.

Yes. Rooftop units, split systems and centralised systems for offices, retail and industrial buildings, plus walk in cooler and freezer refrigeration. Commercial calls are prioritised for emergency response.

Where the name turns up locally

The same family, on the same roads, since 1978.

Country Air belongs to the Magnolia and Tomball Chambers of Commerce and to the Rotary Club, and supports the Jeffery Ingram Memorial Foundation, which benefits graduating Magnolia ISD seniors. Alice Arevalo started the business here with David in 1978 and their daughter Natalie runs it now.

It is a small thing to say and a hard thing to fake. The people answering the phone live in the same towns as the people calling it.

Forty eight years, one phone number.

Country Air has run out of Magnolia since 1978 and is still owned by the family that started it. Whatever the system is doing, somebody at the shop has seen it before.
